They hate people that can't afford to pay them. The ads aren't even the worst part. The YoutTube Music team is truly set on making the experience for free users as hellish as possible. You can't let the music play in the background, a basic feature of any music app. Recently they added their newest invention of a 'feature' of being able to view the LYRICS TO A SONG 3 times before you are never able to view them through the app again.

The app is overall pretty good, but I believe a big part comes from the fact that I have youtube premium. Not being able to listen to music in the background is absolutely diabolical and shouldn't be hidden behind a pay wall. If I didn't have youtube premium I wouldn't recommend using youtube music as it's not good enough to compare to something like Spotify free, although YouTube music offers more remixes and the such. I guess in the end it's a matter of taste.

Huge library for building play lists. Almost every song I could think of was available to me. Two minor gripes: 1. Tapping a notification for new music doesn't always get me to the relevant screen, and instead just opens the app to wherever I had it last. 2. I would like an "undo" feature if I am in the middle of a playlist and I accidentally queue up a different song while browsing the app. That way I can just go back to what I was playing without having songs I recently heard.
