Content Specialist Manager, YouTube Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience with data analytics, trust and safety, policy, cybersecurity, business strategy, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in people management as a lead, or coaching or mentoring others.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or with scripting/programming language (e.g., Python).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally at various levels.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading initiatives in support of a number of cross-functional and vertical programs focused on delivering the organization priorities with key engagement across multiple YouTube stakeholders. You will be responsible for maintaining operational readiness across the portfolio to deliver on operational ask. You will help implement and enforce the policies across pieces of content videos, as well as define and implement operational plans globally, liaising and working with stakeholders in areas like Product Management, Engineering, Vendor Operations, Analytics, Public Policy, Public Relation (PR), Partnerships and Legal. You will review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive video content during team escalations in line with YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of people. Set and communicate team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet with people to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Enforce YouTube’s content policies and ensure quality policy enforcement, as part of the Content Specialist team within the Trust and Safety organization.
  • Manage escalations in the content policy space while ensuring quality enforcement and written communication and policy analysis.
  • Coordinate across global teams to drive consistency into Trust and Safety’s approach to support escalations worldwide.
  • Use Google’s big data to conduct data-oriented analysis, architect metrics, synthesize information, solve problems, and influence business decision-making by presenting insights and market trends.
