User Experience Research Lead, Android XR

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • 3 years of work experience working with executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human Factors, Experimental Psychology, HCI, or other fields emphasizing human behavior, measurement, experimentation.
  • Experience leading teams of User Researchers, developing programs at various altitudes that support product development.
  • Experience conducting research with emerging technologies and devices (e.g., VR headsets, smartphones, etc.).
  • Experience researching user interfaces, inputs and interactions in on-the-go contexts.

About the job

We follow a simple but vital premise in the User Experience group: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." We're passionately interested in our users and strive to learn everything we can about their goals and needs, attitudes, and emotions to help define our products and experiences we create. The User Experience (UX) team is behind gathering these insights and using them to inspire and inform design. We are a multi-disciplinary team of interaction, visual, and motion designers, prototypers, and user researchers. We collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to explore and define emerging interaction paradigms and create innovative products that people love to use.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the research roadmap for headsets, glasses, and developer experiences, from strategic initiatives through the rest of the product development cycle.
  • Create research programs that accelerate and inform product development in a 0-to-1 product space.
  • Lead a team to drive research that ensures the end-to-end user experiences are desirable, valuable, and intuitive.
  • Build a foundation of knowledge on head-worn computing and the opportunities for AI.
  • Curate and leverage research insights to advocate for users and influence stakeholders, leadership, and product directions.
