Technical Lead Manager, AI Interactions, AR/VR

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience with performance, systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and developing frameworks or SDKs, with a focus on reusability and maintainability.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Android Apps, Mobile App Development, Mobile Development, Google Mobile Apps, Google Mobile Services.
  • Experience in Java or C++ or other languages/frameworks used in mobile app development (e.g., Kotlin, Dart/Flutter, etc.).
  • Understanding the tests in developing for mobile and resource-constrained devices, including managing compute, power, and latency.
  • Excellent system design skills, architecting for mobile or non-mobile platforms at scale.

As a Technical Lead Manager, you will empower your team to abstract and develop core, reusable AI (e.g Gemini) components and libraries for Extended Reality, building a cohesive and performant foundation for other experiences to build on in our suite of next-generation devices. You will take ownership of the roadmap and execution for your team, and advoacte the establishment of scalable architectures and foster collaboration across Product Areas to deliver these critical foundational elements that will shape the future of our experiences. You will collaborate with cross-functional peers and other teams to bring your goal to life and multiply your impact.

We're building a future where lightweight XR devices pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to shape, own, and drive the technical roadmap, implementation, and delivery of critical features for next-generation Augmented Reality devices.
  • Empower your team to collaborate across organizations and cross-functionally with UX, product, design, research to identify key technologies, establish milestones, and progress solutions from concept to launch.
  • Work across product areas in collaboration with other Google services to develop, leverage, and de-risk advanced technologies to deliver high quality solutions.
  • Evaluate and develop technologies and its product application to help shape next generation product features, specifications, system architecture, and set achievable expectations.
  • Manage the team, support career growth by mentoring team members. Be responsible for fostering technical excellence and ensure judgement in balancing immediate needs with long-term health.
