Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a compound organization.
  • Experience in modem, telephony or Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

In this role, you will manage a team of software engineers to develop reusable, hardware-agnostic software for embedded wireless chipsets with Google-scale services. You will model and coach professional software development skills which are broadly applicable, both within Google and in all other leading software companies, from server-level to chip-level engineering. You will lead to a growing effort within Google and elsewhere to re-imagine embedded development from a Google-scale software engineering mindset.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Distribute and manage the daily work of a team of talented software engineers. Scope and plan teamwide efforts and resource allocation.
  • Lead effort estimations and progress monitoring for multiple large projects.
  • Communicate risks and issues affecting the team or the organization in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with peers and executive leaders to identify best practices and help engineers enact them.
  • Use creativity to help establish new projects, processes, or standards to enhance organization wide goals.
