  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of professional experience in engineering leadership or related technical roles.
  • Experience managing an engineering organization across multiple geographies and product portfolios.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience bringing innovative, industry-leading, category-defining tech products to market.
  • Experience working with executive level internal and external clients/partners, acting as a representative of the company.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, partnering with groups (e.g., Product Management, Product Marketing, UX and UI), brokering trade offs with stakeholders and understanding their needs.
  • Experience working with Machine Learning, AI, Large Language Models (LLM) to process and create data.

As the Senior Director of Engineering for Real Time Communications (Google Meet and Google Voice), you'll be building products that are essential to the daily communication of millions of businesses and users. Your focus will be on leveraging cutting-edge AI to build the next generation of these platforms to power engaging, fun and productive conversations. In this role, you will be leading a large global organization and working with a cross-functional team to craft the overall strategy for the business, driving the innovation and execution to support this. Your attention to engineering details will be essential in maintaining Google Meet's high standards for ease of use, and in advancing Google Voice to meet the evolving demands of the digital communication sector.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and set the technical vision for Google Meet and Google Voice, aligning with Google Workspace's overall strategy and objectives.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, design, and research teams to define and deliver compelling product roadmaps, ensuring timely execution and high-quality releases.
  • Drive continuous technological advancement in Google Meet and Google Voice, exploring and implementing cutting-edge technologies to enhance user experience and product capabilities.
  • Ensure operational stability, scalability, and performance of Google Meet and Google Voice services, meeting the highest standards of reliability and security.
