About the job

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and pitch in where needed. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support business objectives.

In this role, you will be a key player on the APAC Controllership team, and partner closely with a number of cross-functional and cross-finance stakeholders. You will not only successfully drive cross-finance collaboration to support both finance as well as business-led initiatives, but also implement and continually look to improve existing processes.

The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness and efficiency of financial reporting and processes related to Controllership (e.g., month-end close and statutory reporting, year end statutory financial processes, P&L and B/S analytics, statistic filings, tax filings and other compliance requirements.)
  • Prepare and present financial information to different audiences, including finance leaders, business partners, auditors and regional accountants.
  • Interact with tax bureaus on accounting and tax filing matters, with assistance by professional service providers.
  • Develop solutions for current and potential problems, address potential issues and risks for a specific area, and focus on comprehensive and proactive planning to craft solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to design new or improve current methods/processes (e.g., customized process documents or deliverables, policy updates, revised guidance), to increase efficiency and/or produce higher value for users.
