Head of Strategy and Operations, Sellside

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in management consulting, sales operations, business strategy, investment banking, venture capital, private equity or corporate advisory experience or 8 years of experience with an advanced degree
  • 5 years of experience working with executive stakeholders

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience directly managing teams, coaching and mentoring junior team members
  • Experience in a Chief of Staff role (or similar role) needing leadership of varied strategic and operational initiatives while working closely with executive leaders
  • Deep knowledge of Google’s Ads products, sales teams, or service operations as well as the customer and competitive contexts in which they operate, particularly for publishers and developers on the "sellside" of the ecosystem
  • Ability to understand and articulate the “big picture" to executive teams, while maintaining exceptional attention to execution details
  • Ability to work in complex environments delivering multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously

The Business Strategy & Operations organization provides business critical insights using analytics, ensures cross functional alignment of goals and execution, and helps teams drive strategic partnerships and new initiatives forward. We stay focused on aligning the highest-level company priorities with effective day-to-day operations, and help evolve early stage ideas into future-growth initiatives.

Within Global Partnerships, the Sellside organization works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The team partners with Publishers and App Developers of all sizes to promote their ad inventory, working with Google's broad range of partner solutions including AdSense, AdMob, and Ad Manager, across mobile, display, and video formats, helping our partners and their audiences get the most out of the web. In addition, the Partnerships team supports Google’s own product teams with essential partnerships to help power Google’s user experiences in search, maps, travel, shopping, payments, and more.

To better operate the business, a new Sellside organization has been created that brings together the range of teams that support Sellside business operations including StratOps, L&D, Data Tools & Solutions and Sales Support. These groups are the business partners to the executives in the Sellside supporting on a range of topics from ongoing operations to run the business, through to transformational projects to ensure future success.

We collaborate across Google, ensuring a coordinated approach when engaging with our most complex and strategic partners.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Be a strategic thought partner to the Sellside Executive, advising on operations and business strategy.
  • Lead a team of Strategy & Operations professionals to support the Sellside business.
  • Own the management of the global business operations including global planning, resource management (HC & Opex) OKR defintion and tracking, cross-functional business processes.
  • Lead and drive sensitive and critical projects for senior leaders by quickly understanding context and developing a prioritized scope and approach for resolution in ambiguous situations, then driving to action.
  • Function as lead Strategy business partner for cross-functional projects and initiatives, liaising across Marketing, Sales, Finance, and more.
