Software Engineer, Front End, Google Store

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with front-end frameworks, full-stack development, or API development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in full-stack engineering, including both web front-end development and back-end services.
  • Experience with developing and successfully launching complex, user-facing features from concept to completion.
  • Experience with system design and building scalable, distributed, and reliable systems.
  • Ability to showcase product intuition and to translate business goals and user needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent cross-functional awareness, with a clear understanding of requirements and risks related to UX, privacy, legal, marketing, and safety.

We are looking for an Engineer to architect and build the next generation of our AI-powered transactional omnicommerce experiences.

In this role, you will directly enhance web performance, team efficiency, and the online and retail experience for millions of users. You will help drive the architecture across our serving layer and will influence enabling delightful, intelligent web experiences and delivering a transformational improvement in developer efficiency. You will also shape the technical direction across both our e-commerce platform and internal content management tools, driving a unified and innovative architecture.

Google Store focuses on building relationships with customers and providing the best experiences with our devices and services. Google Store offers first-party retail experiences with our products, both online and at our physical retail stores in New York City, Mountain View and Boston.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Architect a scalable, high-performance web platform using AI.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, helping with the technical direction across the gStore front end.
  • Act as a direct technical engineer who actively contributes to the codebase.
  • Build a reusable framework to accelerate component/module development, with patterns supporting Material Design, BC25, and theming.
