Senior Security Engineer, Public Sector Professional Services

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of working experience with client side web technologies; HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and working experience with SQL, XML, HTTP protocols, and databases.
  • 5 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++).
  • 5 years of experience in a consulting role leading or supporting enterprise customers with cloud architecture development, hardening, or threat detection.
  • Active US Government Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer (PCSE) certification.
  • Security+, CISSP, or similar technical security certification.
  • Experience integrating cloud solutions with Federal government systems and networks.
  • Deep knowledge of single sign on (SSO) and identity federation.
  • Knowledge of security administration processes and operations.

About the job

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

As a Security Engineer supporting various Google Cloud Platform customers, you will be a trusted advisor to the customer's organization, working closely with them to understand their unique security challenges and objectives. You will guide them through their cloud journey, ensuring their Google Cloud environment is secure, compliant, and resilient.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Google Cloud customers/partners to develop and harden cloud architectures that align with Google’s best practices and meet their specific security requirements.
  • Develop scalable cloud architectures that optimize infrastructure operations across multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments for Google Cloud customers.
  • Work with customers to fortify their cloud architectures against potential threats and disruptions, ensuring continuity and reliability.
  • Provide expert guidance and support customers during security incidents, helping them contain and mitigate threats effectively.
  • Partner with Google's internal security teams and external partners to leverage their expertise and insights, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach.
