Infrastructure Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks.

  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a technical related field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization including technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

We are the team building the infrastructure for Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) connected on-premise Anthos clusters. Our platform provides a variety of customers including retail and global telecommunications with a managed k8s platform that is located in their data centers, connected to their private network. We deliver the compute and storage services that support mission-critical workloads for Retail customers as well as Manufacturing customers including ASML.

The Infrastructure team is expanding its presence in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The team has an ambitious goal to build scalable and reliable life-cycle management/fleet management system for GDC connected deployments, including release management, software updates and rollouts. We are solving numerous technical challenges while respecting our customer's privacy and observability requirements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects.

  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
