  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 4 years of experience building developer tools, test automation frameworks, or infrastructure to improve engineering productivity.

  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience establishing and growing new engineering teams.
  • Experience in the Networking domain.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with globally distributed teams.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The GGN Engineering Productivity team's mission is to provide common tooling to support all of Google Global Infrastructure (GGI) Engineering in testing, testbeds, and labs. We provide testing as a service to GGN for functional and integration testing, offer resource reservation and isolation for lab environments, maintain all necessary test execution infrastructure, and work with external teams to develop cohesive test strategies.

In this role, you will lead the Engineering Productivity team in Bengaluru. You will be responsible for hiring, coaching, and managing a team of software engineers to design, build, and support tools and infrastructure that enhance engineering velocity and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the new Bengaluru site for the Google Global Networking (GGN) Engineering Productivity organization, delivering productivity tools and infrastructure for GGN organization.
  • Build/manage a high-performing team of Engineers through hiring, coaching, mentoring, and creating an effective organizational structure fostering delegation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Achieve business goals for the team, ensuring alignment with the global GGN Engineering Productivity mission and GGN priorities. Establish strong partnerships and influence across organizations and geo, particularly within GGN and with teams in India. Set and align stakeholder expectations.
  • Ensure sound technical direction for projects undertaken by Bengaluru team. Guide, vet system designs, review code, and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with teams in other sites (Sunnyvale, Cambridge) to ensure consistency and leverage of tooling and infrastructure. Contribute to documentation and educational content.
