Fullstack Software Engineer, Growth, Google Labs (Flow)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of full-stack experience (back-end and front-end) including launching and scaling user-facing software products.
  • 2 years of software development experience in Java, Python, Kotlin, C++, or Go (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
  • 1 year of experience in software architecture, specifically designing modular systems that support personalized user journeys.
  • Experience in using internal frameworks (e.g., Apps Framework, Server Platform or Rasta) to manage application.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, with a focus on optimizing high-latency media generation pipelines and system resilience.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies and designing experiment-led features using internal stacks (e.g., Mendel, PLX, Dremel, or Sessioniza).
  • Experience building growth-specific infrastructure such as push notification systems, referral engines, or subscription/billing funnels for enterprise users.
  • Experience in Generative AI with an understanding to optimize Common User Journeys (CUJs) for creative tools and AI-powered media platforms.

As a part of the Generative Media team within Google Labs, your mission is to make creativity radically more accessible, useful, and playful. You will be the engine behind Google’s most ambitious AI creative tools, having launched a suite of industry-leading technologies including Veo, MusicFX, ImageFX, and Imagen 3. You will operate with the speed of a startup and the resources of Google, rapidly deploying AI-powered features that redefine how the world interacts with video, image, and audio.Labs is a group focused on incubating early-stage efforts in support of Google’s mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our team exists to help discover and create new ways to advance our core products through exploration and the application of new technologies. We work to build new solutions that have the potential to transform how users interact with Google. Our goal is to drive innovation by developing new Google products and capabilities that deliver significant impact over longer timeframes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Write full-stack product code (TypeScript/Wiz, Java, or Go) to build features driving user acquisition, activation, and for Google Flow.
  • Lead or participate in design reviews to select technologies for experimentation frameworks, onboarding flows, and scalable growth loops.
  • Review peer code for accuracy and efficiency, ensuring best practices (style, testing, check-ins) within a high-velocity Generative AI environment.
  • Maintain documentation and educational content, adapting materials based on user feedback and new mobile/enterprise feature launches.
  • Triage and resolve system issues across hardware or network operations, optimizing the media pipeline to ensure performance.
