About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require leaders to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into unique engineering, system reliability, and cyber security challenges. As a Regional IoT Operations & Cyber Security Specialist at Google, you will bridge the gap between high-level global strategy and technical execution required to operate stable, highly-available, and secure building systems and specialized IoT hardware.

This is a dual-mandate role where your expertise will perfectly balance Operational Technology (OT) operations with cyber security risk management. You will serve as the strategic operations and cyber security authority for your region, driving the daily performance and lifecycle management of regional IoT systems while defending them against cyber threats. You're equally at home commanding the response to a system outage as you are leading a cyber security incident response, applying your expertise to manage external vendor SLAs or explaining technical risk trade-offs to executives.

The Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) team creates inspiring spaces and innovative services that bring Google’s culture and values to life. We build and maintain all aspects of what keeps our Googley workspaces operating seamlessly across multiple cities and regions globally. We also manage the industry-leading services that help make Google a great place to work -- from how we design healthy and collaborative workspaces, create energizing food experiences, provide convenient transportation and fitness options, to delivering environments where Google and our employees can thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Define the regional operational architecture and approach for outsourced suppliers (including SLAS), transitioning the focus to proactive maintenance, to ensure high availability, system reliability, and lifecycle management at scale.
  • Be able to operationalize global IoT strategies into regional plans. Serve as the regional authority for cyber risk acceptance and compliance deviations, leveraging deep subdomain expertise to ensure all regional IoT systems remain compliant.
  • Own the regional programs for vulnerability and patch management. Drive technical and corrective actions for IoT security incidents, ensuring mitigation within defined SLOs (for systems including building management, outdoor, food, health, and performance).
  • Lead the regional procurement and pipeline, ensuring all new IoT devices and systems strictly adhere to corporate security-by-design policies and undergo rigorous functionality reviews.
