Legal Entity Analyst, International Controllership

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional qualification CIMA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
  • Experience in agreement and spend governance.
  • Experience in SQL/ERP and ability to have strong attention to detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate with executive management.

About the job

The international controllership seeks to ensure that any Alphabet company can do any business in any country. In order to realise this goal and operate in a responsible and controlled manner it is imperative to take a risk based approach and to align resources with jurisdictional and regional requirements. This organization therefore forms an integral part of Alphabet’s global controllership, working closely with our global operations team, professional service providers, in-country business leaders, and the broader finance, tax and legal teams.

We manage the Legal Entity processes that allow Google to expand and operate globally, as well as ensuring an optimal global corporate landscape. As part of the Legal Entity Governance team, your work will be a critical coordination point, directly supporting the creation of new legal entities around the world. You will be assessing the overall legal entity landscape to ensure any dormant entities are assessed for liquidation. You will partner closely with various business areas across multiple product areas including Finance Engineering, Controllership, and other finance and on finance teams across Google to ensure our operations and corporate landscape assessments run smoothly.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Examine entity data to evaluate Alphabet's worldwide footprint, ensuring an optimal organizational structure and supporting the implementation of legal entity policies across all Product Areas (PAs) as businesses expand or business needs change.
  • Manage legal entity data and workflows directly within Introspect, using the platform to deliver operational updates on the progress of new entities and liquidations.
  • Coordinate with various finance and non-finance teams across Alphabet to facilitate legal entity set up, operationalization and liquidation.
  • Pinpoint root causes and suggests actionable improvements for legal entity processes, employing technology to enhance both accuracy and efficiency.
  • Generate detailed project management materials for entity creation, such as timeline estimates, status reports, and issue tracking. Resolve Project Roadblocks, work with stakeholders to overcome obstacles and ensure successful outcomes for assigned portions of cross-functional projects.
