Senior Technical Program Manager, AI Innovation and Research

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience in the Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence project life cycle, within projects involving AI capabilities and agentic systems.
  • Experience designing across multiple platforms, and working with technical or design teams to create user flows, wireframes, and building user interface mockups and prototypes.
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in Program Management.
  • Experience working with engineering, product management, research, and design teams to drive projects from conception to launch.
  • Experience in project management methodologies, with the ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical data, performance metrics, and results to make informed project decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fluid environment.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in AI Innovation and Research (AIR), it's crucial to not only grow in fluid environments and communicate with executives, but also to be deeply involved in your areas of responsibility. This means making direct contributions to the efforts, which can range from operational to technical. You must be prepared to be engaged in the entire effort, from beginning to end.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of technical road maps for AI features, from conception to launch.
  • Work with Program Manager and Engineers to ensure user needs and metrics are met for AI features. Collaborate with engineering, product, and research teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Drive communication across geographically dispersed teams and time zones, ensuring everyone understands priorities and challenges. Serve as a critical liaison, especially for Bangalore-based teams and cross-functional partners in other locations.
  • Contribute to a local team culture and operational excellence within the Bangalore site, collaborating with local leadership to support site-specific initiatives and foster cross-functional engagement.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple Aura workstreams, ensuring delivery and alignment with the broader organisation wide AI strategy.
