Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience in building and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
- Familiarity with debugging, observability, and logging concepts and tools
- Proficiency in C++ or Go.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills to work both on their own and collaboratively within Google’s production environment and infrastructure.

- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software for Google's large-scale distributed tracing systems.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to deliver new features and enhancements to the tracing infrastructure, ensuring high quality, performance, and scalability.
- Contribute to the technical goals and roadmap for the evolution of tracing tools to meet emerging needs, including those from Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and agentic workflows.
- Analyze and optimize the performance and efficiency of tracing components and data pipelines.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions while troubleshooting and resolving complex tracing infrastructure issues and maintaining technical documentation.
