Vice President, Software Development, Applied AI

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 20 years of experience in software development leadership, including building large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) and large language models (LLMs), with a focus on their application in enterprise settings.
  • Experience managing teams of 350+ developers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field.
  • Understanding of the complex relationship between the organization and its environment, with ability to identify connections, adopt different perspectives and quickly respond to changing circumstances in a strategic way.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and import and export talent and ideas to achieve a broader organizational goal.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills that drive executional impact at scale.

About the job

In this role, you will be responsible for a suite of AI-first business applications and developing a roadmap of new applications in areas like customer service and sales and in industries such as telecommunications, healthcare, retail, and financial services. You will be responsible for defining and developing the technical infrastructure and product functionality for these applications, working with multiple Google teams, customers, and partners.

You'll manage large Software Development teams of different disciplines to deliver results in a timely manner. You will build strong partnerships and relationships with a diverse set of partner teams and navigate highly ambiguous situations. You'll set the vision and direction, improve productivity and quality standards, resolve systemic problems, identify trends, and implement change.

The US base salary for this full-time position is $550,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the long-term technical vision and strategy for the Cloud Applications organization.
  • Play an active role in the Applied AI Leadership team and influence the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Collaborate with partner Software Development teams within Google Cloud and other product areas, and cross-functional teams to ensure that the work is aligned with overarching goals of Applied AI and Google.
  • Lead research, prototyping, and experimentation for key initiatives and products.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a growing and high-performing team.
