About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Play Games team is dedicated to delivering the best gaming experiences to billions of users globally. We are embarking on an ambitious multi-year plan to drive significant growth in the multi-billion-dollar Play business through Google Play Games, our new unified Gaming platform we launched this year.

In this role, you will be working at the intersection of AI and Gaming, bringing AI to gamers and game developers alike.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Influence the team's speed, focusing on rapid iteration, testing, and successful product launches. Success is measured by materially increasing the team's velocity and getting products into users' hands quickly.
  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your technical expertise, ensuring Technical Program Management practices are applied in a high-urgency AI environment.
  • Drive alignment across teams, organizations, and product areas to reach consensus on product direction, north-star metrics, engineering scope/feasibility, etc.
  • Dive into and resolve critical roadblocks by adopting the perspective of a Product Manager or Engineer as needed. Identify and clear both product and engineering blockers to maintain forward momentum.
  • Drive portfolio planning, prioritization, roadmap/OKR definition, milestones, and software schedules. Clearly articulate project schedules, risks, technical trade-offs, and critical decisions to technical leads, executives, and cross-functional partners.
