Strategic Partnership Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, in the Consumer Electronics, Auto, OEMs, Telecom, E-Commerce/Retail, Apps, Ads, Gaming, or Technology industries.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to effectively partner with both local external partners and internal stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or other advanced degree.
  • Experience managing complex, end-to-end partnerships.
  • Experience working autonomously in a dynamic, ever-changing, and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to identify potential business opportunities, assess financial/business benefit, structure agreements, and discuss terms with strategic partners.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

About the job

Google's line of products and services to our clients never stops growing. The Partnerships Development team is responsible for seeking and exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Equipped with your business acumen and extensive product knowledge, you are right on the front line of interacting with our partners, and helping them find ways to grow using Google's newest product offerings. Your knowledge of relevant verticals and relationships with key industry players will help shape our great applications and content for products such as YouTube, Google TV and Commerce.

The Devices and Services Business organization focuses on Google-branded hardware (e.g., Pixel, Nest, Fitbit, and others) and key subscription services (e.g. Google One). Our team is the business arm for Devices and Services, responsible for delivering the profit and loss (P&L) results and for leading partnerships with our carriers, retailers, distributors, and enterprise verticals, including developing channel strategy, negotiating commercial terms, marketing and merchandising, and overall market share goals.

Our team is also responsible for driving our direct to consumer sales via the Google Store, by driving retail rate recommendation in stores and by ensuring that our presence in-store and online is excellent. We partner cross-functionally with marketing, operations, product and engineering, finance, and legal teams internally, and with our retail and carrier counterparts across these disciplines.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Responsibilities

  • Build, execute, and refine a long-term growth strategy for the partnership business in unison with partners and other Google divisions and functions.
  • Structure proposals including partners benefits, goals, requirements, incentive structure, and legal and operational implications.
  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders, including the country leadership team and other functions, such as product team, marketing, finance, legal and compliance, operations, and go-to-market.
  • Serve as the relationship manager for our current existing agreements. Help realize and optimize value from these partnerships while building effective long-term relationships.
  • Engage with several internal cross-functional teams across multiple geographies to incubate, launch, improve, and scale new features and user experiences across markets and functional areas.
