Geo Auto Forward Deployed Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in system design or one programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python, etc.).
  • 6 years of experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.
  • 5 years of experience as a technical consultant in the Automotive field.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing projects and working with Navigation technologies.
  • Experience working with Android Auto.
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires interactions in Japanese with local stakeholders.

About the job

As a GEO Auto Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical relationship of our automotive partners, especially for our GEO products integration. You will lead the efforts to enable Google Map and Automotive Software Development Kit (SDK) integration on the partner’s in-vehicle infotainment systems. You will triage the issues which were raised from your partner and land it with reasonable manners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automotive partners as they integrate Google Maps and Automotive SDK across complex domains, including Automotive OS platforms, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) components, and in-vehicle infotainment.
  • Manage the automotive partner relationship and be responsible for driving issue resolutions including bugs, missing functionality, and feature requests.
  • Represent the requirements, constraints and roadmap of automotive partners to inform product development.
  • Support the Geo Auto Forward Deployed Engineering team as a subject matter expert.
  • Work closely with teams across the Geo Auto, Geo Developer, and Android organizations to ensure Google provides a uniform and complete automotive solution.
