Senior Technical Program Manager, Pixel Buds

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working with electronic consumer devices (e.g., headphones, tablets, phones, etc).
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 3 years of experience working directly with contract manufacturers/factory stakeholders to plan and execute product development builds (Proto through Mass Production).
  • 3 years of experience driving system level engineering and design decisions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience shipping high volume/high quality products.
  • Ability to drive several tasks at once to ship a product.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time internationally.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of product life cycle, tools, processes and operations planning. Passion for improving processes and plans.
  • Excellent team player and creative thinker with the ability to lead technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors against plans.

About the job

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, development and build execution for new product devices from prototype phase through final design. Drive daily and build meetings with the partners with a goal to build, test and ship engineering devices for development.
  • Manage multiple cross-functional teams during engineering prototype development builds on-site at location, while meeting schedule, cost, feature and quality requirements. Partner closely with the engineering, operations and manufacturing partner teams to ensure all design and build deliverables are met.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate focus points and next steps with engineering, vendors, operations, quality, and management.
  • Identify program risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution. Synthesize amounts of data into a story and communicate to stakeholders and organizations at all levels.
  • Improve and maintain processes that ensure team members have what they need to understand and execute.
