Data Center Technician II (Fixed-Term Contract)

This is a 6 month fixed-term contract.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with hardware and operating systems (e.g., Linux), and networking protocols.
  • Must have the ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in maintenance and monitoring of server systems.
  • Experience in working within a data center or networking operation center environment.
  • Experience in project leadership and management.
  • Ability to collaborate and partner with teams to resolve issues.

You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

As a Data Center Technician in Data Center (DC) Technical Operations, you will execute and complete operational tasks related to deploying and launching new data center infrastructure across projects. You will apply standard tools, resources, and processes to solve defined problems, and leverage debugging tools and perform troubleshooting to resolve technical issues. You will work in a team setting to accomplish project tasks and meet or exceed operational goals of a single data center site. You will possess a skilled and practical understanding of data center operations in one (or more) technology domain areas and are starting to acquire a base competency in relevant broader cross-functional data center domains. Your responsibilities may include diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, or infrastructure. Disassembling equipment that has reached its separately. Engaging in community contributions to improve and sustain our culture and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and deploy the physical infrastructure behind Google's powerful search technology, advanced data center servers, and network infrastructure.
  • Contribute to efforts/projects in the deployment, maintenance, and support of current and new data center servers and network infrastructure.
  • Install and maintain switches, routers, and other networking gear. Diagnose and repair broken equipment, including servers, networking, and storage devices.
  • Support conditions for the servers to ensure optimal functionality and connectivity, and oversee maintenance of critical systems.
  • Be available and capable of participating in primary/secondary on-call for the sites and to work on 24/7 shifts if needed.
