Content Operations Team Lead, Play and Android

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in content operations, fraud investigations, account security, spam prevention, content moderation, or policy enforcement.
  • 1 year of experience in people management, as a lead, or coaching or mentoring others.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in SQL, building dashboards, data collection/transformation, visualization/dashboards, or in a scripting/programming language (e.g., Python).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. In this role, you will lead a team to drive an impact that changes the way Trust and Safety (T&S) and Google operate. You will deliver business impact for Google by setting, communicating, and achieving team priorities that support organizational goals. You will ensure appropriate metrics, roles, and people are in place to meet organizational goals. Make prioritization decisions, equitably allocate work, and manage resources to deliver business impact. You demonstrate good judgment, make and communicate adjustments, remove obstacles to ensure success, even during times of change. Encourage innovation and thoughtful risk-taking to deliver business impact. You will set clear expectations for each aligned role, level, and organizational goals and meet regularly to give feedback and provide coaching. You will foster a team culture that creates belonging, psychological safety, and respect and facilitate collaboration and open communication to help teams achieve results together.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Support and collaborate with executive management throughout project life-cycles from design to close, resolving complicated abuse, harm, fighting and mitigation issues. Be the escalation point for the team and run negotiations with cross-functional (XFN) partners.
  • Build trusted user experiences, with iterative improvements to systems and processes. Hold the team accountable for results, try new approaches while learning from mistakes.
  • Share knowledge when relevant to tasks. Coordinate with others when contributing to a larger work stream, ensuring project alignment.
  • Demonstrate a fundamental understanding and domain expertise in data sources, core methods, client base, product, issues, systems, as well as relevant Google-wide business projects, and analytic methods (e.g., extract data, build dashboards).
  • Provide feedback analysis, operational monitoring, and error resolution to prevent inaccuracies, reduce process latency, and develop standard scripts and solutions with guidance.
