Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in in one or more programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Java, Go).
- Experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
- Experience with debugging/troubleshooting.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with performance analysis, profiling, and system optimization.
- Familiarity with debugging, observability, and tracing concepts and tools (e.g., Sherlog, Dapper).
- Familiarity with Google's production environment and infrastructure (e.g. Colossus).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software for Google's large-scale distributed tracing systems.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to deliver new features and enhancements to the tracing infrastructure, ensuring high quality, performance, and scalability.
- Contribute to the technical outlook and roadmap for the evolution of tracing tools to meet emerging needs, including those from AI/ML and agentic workflows.
- Analyze and optimize the performance and efficiency of tracing components and data pipelines. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues within the tracing infrastructure.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and architectural decisions. Write and maintain clear technical documentation.
