Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

Risk Data Platform (RDP) establishes a standardized framework for leveraging risk and control data to assess, report, and monitor security and compliance risks across Alphabet and its areas.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will build technical solutions to protect users trust, make the internet safer, and drive social impact. You will process all of Alphabet's data and leverage Google's existing assets as the foundation for building impactful solutions. You will build a series of products to support that mission, like the Risk Data Platform, which provides continuous risk and control monitoring, risk data warehousing, and risk modeling and reporting capabilities for Alphabet.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and follow software development best practices and an engineering culture.
  • Participate in the definition, design and development of the next generation of Alphabet's risk and compliance products.
  • Work with both back-end and front-end, learning the main technologies in Google's software development stack.
  • Work closely with our UX team to ensure our products reflect product excellence and are accessible.
