Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
- 8 years of experience with Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Experience with low-level programming.
- Experience with ML compilers and runtimes.
- Experience with TPUs, TPU system design, or GPUs.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing expertise over the compiler and runtime boundary and provide technical strategy and guidance to teams. You will develop annual roadmaps for the team in partnership with managers and other technical leads. You will be responsible for driving technical alignment with teams across Google’s organizations. You will make contributions to code development, strategy, team culture, and processes. You will identify new opportunities for the team and translate our strategy into priorities and projects for the broader group.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Engineers to develop end-to-end testing, serving, and training solutions for Google ML.
- Drive technical strategy and roadmaps for infrastructure development.
- Identify and build stable, standardized APIs for internal products.
- Build a strong technical bench and balanced team level and execution posture.
- Gracefully and incrementally migrate existing frameworks (TensorFlow, JAX, PyTorch) runtimes (TFExecutor, TFRT, PJRT) and product area's custom workflows onto ML Runtime, minimizing any user disruption.
