Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience in developer relations or developer advocacy.
  • Experience in Open Source Technologies.
  • Experience in the areas of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence including GenAI and guide developers on the use of these technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience as a Software Developer, Architect, Technical Advocate, Consultant, Community/Product Manager or Consultant working with various platforms.
  • 3 years of experience working in open source, such as a core contributor to an open source project, in an OSPO, or as a project manager within a foundation.
  • Experience speaking at technology conferences, blogging/writing technical articles with an existing follower base, or contributing to a popular open source projects.

Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we get excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5 as well as our core Google Apps and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

You will develop tools for large-scale, high-performance Machine Learning (ML) on Google Cloud. Your role involves driving customer adoption and success through active engagement with external technical communities. This includes gathering feedback, promoting awareness at events, and advocating for an optimal user experience in AI/ML applications. Ultimately, you will advocate Google Cloud's capabilities for building cutting-edge ML and Generative-AI solutions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Be at the leading edge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and are able to build demos, courses, and content on AI/ML usage, especially on training, tuning, and inference workloads using technologies like JAX or PyTorch.
  • Actively participate in relevant technical communities as a practitioner having, or developing, deep understanding of that community’s needs.
  • Represent the needs of relevant technical communities throughout the entire product lifecycle - including input on design discussions, customer zero testing, launch, post-launch updates. 
  • Build and foster an external community ecosystem of influencers, meetups, experts that amplify the message and extend our reach.
  • Advocate for your community internally and influence product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Engagement, Go-To Market and other cross-functional teams.
