  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Kotlin.

In this role with the Android Auto team, you will build next level experiences in cars where a critical component of our strategy is enabling developers to build applications for automotive platforms optimized for drivers, for common use cases like Navigation, Media and Communications. As a part of the Car App Library team, you will be responsible for building frameworks that make developers job easier by abstracting hardware variability between cars and providing solutions that are driver distraction aware. You will expand the range of applications enabled in cars, bridging the gap between system capabilities and the needs of developers. As a core member of the engineering team, your responsibilities are geared towards building components and infrastructure for the framework that powers applications in Automotive.Making the world's information universally accessible and useful doesn't stop at the desktop. The Mobile team builds tools to get you the information you need no matter where you are. Android has become the world's most popular mobile ecosystem, powering billions of devices, from smartphones to tablets, watches to TVs and everything in between. Whether adding to the core Android experience, forging new markets for digital content, creating immersive and portable versions of our products or managing relationships with a global community of developers, the Mobile team is giving you Google on the go.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code, participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Contribute to the development of the Car App Library, a cross-platform environment to build Automotive applications, and build understanding and expertise on building APIs and frameworks for third-party developers.
