Audio Hardware Test Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Consumer Hardware.
  • Experience formulating test strategies, design test cases, create automated test scripts for testing new prototypes.
  • Experience with test methodologies of device subsystems.
  • Experience in running electroacoustic measurements using tools such as Audio Precision, Soundcheck, or similar.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience using industry standard testing equipment and systems, including Head and Torso Simulators (HATS), Audio Analyzers, microphones, speakers, SPL Meters etc.
  • Experience with acoustic transducers and signal processing fundamentals.
  • Experience with subjective audio quality assessment and critical listening methodologies.
  • Experience summarizing, organizing, and creating test reports.
  • Knowledge in writing test automation scripts (e.g. Python, Shell, Matlab, etc.).
  • Knowledge of interpreting test results to the physical and electroacoustical characteristics of the consumer hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and track objective metrics for prototype hardware and its tuning.
  • Validate changes made to audio hardware, DSP algorithms, and software to measure their impact on the overall system audio quality.
  • Design and build test setups for audio hardware, including interfacing with the device under test using digital, analog, and acoustic I/O.
  • Design test procedures and define the system configuration for prototype hardware.
  • Develop test scripts to automate audio testing.
