  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.

As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The team focuses on building AI powered user facing features to bring innovations in LLM to billions of users. The team works on areas like: launching next generation technologies in features. Examples include the AI titles for memories and Ask Photos. Our current focus is bringing understanding of Photos to benefit users interaction with Google, and making the user's task in Photos frictionless with the help of AI agents, build and scale Photos LLM infrastructure, expand its multi-modal and agent capabilities and build and scale Photos Life Understanding, providing insight to make Photos and Gemini more personal and bring value to users
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a dedicated team of talented Android engineers.
  • Execute many of the optimizations we do, requiring deep understanding of the system and willingness to dig deep into the weed and deliver impactful improvements.
  • Lead the team to quickly translate ideas into functional demos, enabling swift iteration and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Partner closely with product, analytics, and privacy teams to refine requirements, define success metrics, and ensure responsible and impactful feature launches.
  • Guide the team to build adaptable and resilient code that can evolve alongside advancements in Large Language Model (LLM) technology. Maintain the highest standards to guarantee a flawless experience for billions of users.
