Data Engineer, Application Ecosystem

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience designing data pipelines, and dimensional data modeling for synchronous and asynchronous system integration and implementation using internal (e.g., Flume, etc.) and external stacks (DataFlow, Spark, etc.).
  • 5 years of experience working with data infrastructure and data models by performing exploratory queries and scripts in SQL.
  • 5 years of experience coding in one or more programming languages.
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies, such as BigQuery.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math), or a related field.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Cloud Storage, and Data Catalog.
  • Experience with data quality testing and validation frameworks.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Looker.
  • Understanding of data retention policies and their implementation.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Google Cloud Platform and Services Experience (PSX) within AppEco advocates the user in the pursuit of positive, measurable outcomes for our customers and Google.

As a Data Engineer on the AppEco team, you will play a crucial role in our data-driven mission. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure and pipelines that fuel our business intelligence and decision-making. You will work closely with Product teams, data infrastructure partners, and business stakeholders to ensure data accessibility, accuracy, and alignment with our overall business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement data access policies for AppEco, ensuring data is accessible to authorized users while adhering to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) security and compliance standards.
  • Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to process and transform various data sources into meaningful business metrics.
  • Implement data validation and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy and pipeline reliability and partner with business intelligence teams to provide access to curated data sets and support the development of dashboards and reports.
  • Work with data infrastructure partners to ensure the availability and completeness of data sources required for AppEco's needs, and design and maintain a data architecture that promotes self-service data discovery and reuse within AppEco.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to ensure comprehensive product instrumentation is in place to capture essential data for business intelligence and analysis.
