Staff UX Program Manager, Consumer Shopping

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing and scaling UX related programs and driving operational efforts across organizations.
  • Experience with UX disciplines and user-centered development tools and methodologies.
  • Experience analyzing data and leveraging insights to develop solutions.
  • Experience in working to improve the velocity/productivity of teams, products, and systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in strategic planning and organizational leadership.
  • Experience with the product development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and issues.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Ability to drive and prioritize multiple initiatives, with the effective sense of accountability, ownership for complete project life-cycle.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills to work with UX Design, UX Research, Product Management, and Engineering teams.

Google User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. As a UX Program Manager (UX Programs & Operations), you will combine expert project management skills with a passion for user experience to help your team improve the design of products that are used by billions of users. You’ll plan projects, define milestones, assess risks, create actionable insights, and ensure projects meet deadlines. You’ll harmonize the work of UX Designers, Researchers, Content Strategists, UX Engineers, and other UX disciplines, while also working closely with our Engineering and Product Manager cross-functional partners, to drive UX team objectives and create innovative experiences for our business, products, and users.

The Consumer Shopping UX team designs, researches and collaboratively builds Google's suite of Shopping products.

People shop on Google more than a billion times a day - and the Commerce team is responsible for building the experiences that serve these users. The mission for Google Commerce is to be an essential part of the shopping journey for consumers - from inspiration to to a simple and secure checkout experience - and the best place for retailers/merchants to connect with consumers. We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology and scale to thrive in today’s digital world.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or collaborate with UX team leadership in key project decision-making, including requirements gathering, scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination of teams and approval processes.
  • Provide leadership and operational excellence across teams to deliver the highest level of trust-building, and execution. 
  • Identify team needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, and asset management.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to help the team scale their velocity and impact.
  • Provide clear communication to cross-functional team leads and executive management regarding goals, project status, resource requirements, issues, and priorities.
