Senior Network Engineer, Sovereign Operations, Public Sector

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers, in classified environments.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with current polygraph.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with network design, installation, and maintenance with service providers or for large enterprise networks.
  • Proficiency with one or more scripting languages.
  • Understanding of network theory, technologies, and the operation of routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS.
  • Familiarity with networking equipment and data center infrastructure.
  • Ability to work in a network operations center environment.

As a Senior Network Engineer on the Sovereign Operations team, you will design, deploy, and operate the WAN connecting Google air-gapped cloud regions and government customers. This team is driven to consistently deliver the most resilient and performant network to host critical customer workloads. As the network continues to scale, operational efficiencies are maintained by embracing the use of automation and proactive monitoring and prediction. This team's responsibility extends to the support of virtual networking services to include DNS, load balancers, and firewalls. Team members have numerous opportunities for technical growth working with advanced networking protocols, container orchestration technologies, configuration management at scale, and incident triage and resolution. Your deliverables are essential to the success of Google Public Sector and government customer missions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000-$218,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Engage and improve the whole life cycle of classified networks from inception and design, to qualification and validation, through deployment, operation and optimization.
  • Scale networks sustainably and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Collaborate with other team members and groups to analyze requirements and proactively develop solutions and policy recommendations.
  • Partner with Google’s internal application groups and design network infrastructure which meets their networking requirements.
  • Lead requirements analysis, engineering design, and solution development of Google’s production network infrastructure.
