Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration or another field that uses quantitative analysis, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in analytical HR role, investment banking, management consulting (e.g., strategy, compensation) or similar analytical role.
  • Experience using analytical methods, tools, and mathematical concepts to identify, design, recommend, and implement compensation solutions.
  • Experience with HR policies, practices, principles, state and federal employment laws, and related regulations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience communicating across audiences, situations, and contexts in written and verbal format to effectively communicate compensation plans, policies, and practices.
  • Experience with compensation design, discretionary bonus, and employee recognition programs.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use survey methodology to conduct research for various purposes.
  • Ability to consult with business leaders to develop innovative solutions that address individual department needs while maintaining the integrity of Google’s compensation philosophy and upholding our governance duty.
  • Ability to present information regularly and comfortably, including the ability to influence at the executive leadership level.

The Performance and Rewards function is responsible for Global broad based compensation owning massive global compensation budgets, representing a material portion of Google’s annual operating expenses. The function designs and administers engaged and compensation packages, and impactful recognition initiatives across Google’s global footprint.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $173,000-$256,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the compensation structure and compensation for employees is externally engaged and internally valued for your areas of support.
  • Lead and ensure effective management of various compensation work streams such as: annual compensation planning, benchmarking compensation structures, reviewing compensation insights with Tech Product Area leadership, designing and implementing specialized compensation programs as necessary to support clients.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and adherence to Google’s pay-for-performance philosophy.
  • Understand business priorities, stay up-to-date with industry compensation trends and work to develop recommendations on compensation frameworks on a first principle basis; collaborate with the broader team and business to ensure effective execution.
