Manager, Emerging Shopping Integrations

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP) and working with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • 8 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
  • Experience in technical leadership, including AI innovation and agentic experimentation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in people management.
  • Experience using Machine Learning and building solutions.

In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. We achieve this by meeting partners and consumers where they are with support and help, representing their needs with our product partners and proposing fixes and features that elevate their engagement with Google's diverse product ecosystem. Additionally we provide a range of product services that ensure our products are optimized for every user, no matter where they are in the world (e.g., localization, digitization, partner integration, and more).

This role is part of the gUP Shopping Partner Engineering team, focusing on the Google Business Profile, Merchant Center APIs, and Universal Commerce Protocol that power Google Shopping. Our team collaborates with retail partners to drive merchant value and ensure high data quality. We work closely with Engineering and Product teams to advocate for customer-centric features and provide data-driven product improvements.

In this role, you will be balancing high-level strategy with business issues. You will prioritize resources, identify cross-functional improvements, and develop "resourceful" solutions while influencing executive leadership. You will be a vital link between our partners and internal technical teams, ensuring our tools evolve to meet global retail demands.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $177,000-$263,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Influence the product roadmap and feature prioritization by collaborating with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders, advocating for technical improvements and new features based on aggregated merchant and consumer feedback.
  • Lead the technical strategy and goal, ensuring that technical initiatives for integrations align/advance organizational goals. Serve as a technical leader and escalation point, solving novel issues that impact cross-functional goals and industry-wide engagement.
  • Oversee the end-to-end architectural design and delivery of scalable solutions, providing expert engineering consultation to retail partners and internal leadership.
  • Drive technical innovation and scaling by identifying recurring technical gaps across the industry and advocating the development of reusable tools and automated platforms.
  • Foster engineering excellence by promoting best practices in system design and code quality, while ensuring the reliability and performance of critical data pipelines.
