Developer Relations Engineer, Google Cloud (English, Mandarin)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a technical role such as software developer, architect, technical advocate, consultant, community/product manager or consultant working with multiple platforms.
  • Experience in consulting and advising customers with cloud technologies or engaging with developer communities.
  • Experience with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence including Generative AI.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin and English fluently to support the local and global developer community.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with communicating at technology conferences, blogging/writing technical articles, creating code samples, or contributing to open source projects.
  • Experience in working with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML).
  • Ability to travel Mainland China or within Asia-Pacific (APAC) as needed, to engage with developers and startups on Google Cloud enablement.
  • Ability to guide developers on the use of AI/ML technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to share technical knowledge and information with others.

Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we are excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs, and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5, and our core Google Workspace and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

Cloud Developer Relations drives mindshare and enables customer success through participation in external technical communities, product feedback, external outreach, and enablement. The team goal is to make learning, developing, deploying, and scaling Google Cloud a quality experience. The team works to increase adoption of Google Cloud and customers.

In this role, you will participate and seek feedback from practitioners globally. You will raise awareness globally, and advocate the user experience for Cloud technical practitioner products.

Responsibilities

  • Be up-to-date with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and apply those in software systems.
  • Participate in technical communities as a practitioner, build and promote an external community ecosystem. Represent the needs of technical communities throughout the entire product lifecycle, including input on design discussions, customer zero testing, launch, post-launch updates.
  • Synthesize feedback and sentiment in order to drive improvement to Google Cloud Platform products and to the overall experience of the platform had by technical practitioners.
  • Advocate for the community internally and influence Google Cloud product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Engagement, Go-To Market and other cross-functional teams. Work with Product and Engineering teams to define product strategies and to craft narratives around new products and features.
