Staff Technical Program Manager, Data Center Data Security

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience operating and maintaining critical data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, network equipment, and physical layout.
  • Experience implementing and managing security controls and architectures.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliver solutions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience in the domain area of New Product Introduction (NPI) launch, hardware manufacturing, supply chain operations, material management, and technical operations.
  • Experience working in or with data center environments.
  • Experience presenting strategic recommendations to executive stakeholders and gaining alignment on key decisions.
  • Knowledge of physical security systems and their impacts with logical security, including the chain of custody for storage media (shredding/degaussing), encryption, and network hardware protection.
  • Familiarity with global standards such as ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and NIST 800-53/88.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will lead and drive strategic security initiatives across our data center fleet. You will be responsible for large-scale, complex programs that have a direct impact on the security, resilience, and efficiency of Google's data centers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the full lifecycle of data center security initiatives from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational business objectives and key results.
  • Coordinate engineering, operations, and compliance teams to deliver complex projects while establishing credibility and influencing executive leadership decision-making.
  • Define program scope and deliverables, managing detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure seamless execution.
  • Identify and resolve security risks while ensuring strict adherence to industry standards, data protection regulations, and internal policies.
  • Develop scalable processes and best practices to navigate ambiguity, solve complex security issues, and drive the continuous improvement of operational procedures.
