Vice President, Product Management, GPay and Wallet

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of technical product management experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading efforts in payment systems and platforms, including digital wallets, mobile payments, and other emerging payment technologies.
  • Experience leading a global PM team of 40+.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience navigating complex organizational environments, partnering with senior leads to develop shared goals.
  • Experience in consumer-focused product development and understanding of user requirements.
  • Deep market knowledge of payment ecosystems, competition, and in-depth customer requirements.
  • Ability to set and drive the “big picture” strategy while also having the capability to provide detailed technical guidance to the team, enabling them to execute more effectively and deliver products on time and within budget.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams to work as a cohesive, highly productive unit.

About the job

Google's Payments team is seeking a strategic, experienced, and results-oriented VP of Product Management to drive the vision and execution of the GPay and Google Wallet product teams. This leader will play a critical role in guiding the next phases of our strategy and growth for payments at Google.

Users come first at Google. Nowhere is this more important than on our Advertising and Commerce team: we believe that ads and commercial information can be highly useful to our users if that information is relevant to what our users wish to find or do. Advertisers worldwide use Google Ads to promote their products; publishers use AdSense to serve relevant ads on their website; and business around the world use our products (like Google Shopping, and Google Wallet) to support their online businesses and bring users into their offline stores. We are constantly innovating to deliver the most effective advertising and commerce opportunities of tomorrow.

The US base salary for this full-time position is $550,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Create and drive the overarching product strategy and vision for GPay and Wallet, designing and leading a multi-year roadmap that balances short-term objectives with long-term global scaling investments.
  • Lead end-to-end product development, from ideation through commercial launch, owning cross-functional alignment and partnering with Engineering, UX, and other Google teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Analyze industry trends and competitor landscapes to continuously advance GPay and Wallet products, fostering innovation and timely decision-making across a broad network of stakeholders.
  • Recruit, inspire, and develop a highly-technical, and high-performing team of product leaders, cultivating a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and excellence.
  • Act as a strategic partner across Google, leveraging deep payment system knowledge to build products with scaled usage and influence product decisions at the highest levels.
