Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++ or C.
  • 5 years of experience in software development, with a focus on video processing, codecs, bluetooth, and real-time streaming technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with peer-to-peer (P2P) networking over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience developing and debugging software for Android, Real-Time Operating System, or custom embedded platforms.
  • Experience with optimizing streaming over unreliable wireless links including Bluetooth Classic or Bluetooth Low Energy.
  • Experience in video codecs, Hardware or Software, such as H.264/Advanced Video Coding, H.265/High Efficiency Video Coding, or VP9/AOMedia Video 1.
  • Understanding of real-time network protocols such as Real-time Transport Protocol, Real-time Transport Control Protocol, Transmission Control Protocol, User Datagram Protocol, and Web Real-Time Communication.

In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and deploying the core video and real-time streaming technologies that power the next generation of our Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) glasses. This is a unique opportunity to work on problems at the intersection of video compression, real-time networking, and embedded systems, directly impacting the user experience of revolutionary products. This role is for an experienced engineer who grows on technical issues and wants to make a tangible impact on a consumer product. You will be part of a pioneering team that is solving problems that have never been solved before, building the foundational technology that will define the future of human interaction and communication through display Glasses.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement low-latency video codec and transport solutions tailored for resource-constrained embedded systems and various network connections such as Bluetooth (BT) Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) Direct.
  • Optimize the video streaming pipeline for power efficiency, minimal latency, and high visual quality.
  • Define and implement performance metrics, automated testing, and validation frameworks to ensure the reliability and quality of the video and network transport stack.
  • Contribute to the architecture and future roadmap of our video and streaming technology for new product features and generations.
