Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- Experience programming in Java or Go.
- Experience in the following areas: Cloud, Google Cloud Platform, Backend, System Design, Large Scale Distributed Systems, Relational Databases.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Disaster Recovery, Backups, Data Loss Prevention, Recovery, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Google Infrastructure.

The Data Protection, Migration and Data Integration team is responsible for providing a platform that delivers Data Protection, Frictionless Low downtime migration, and enables a Seamless one Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Data Platform. Data durability and integrity is GCP's priority, especially crucial for customer mission critical databases. There are many issues in this space, including providing customers with industry dealing Data Protection features, low RTO, fast and precise recovery in disaster scenarios and peace of mind when running their database on Google Cloud.
In this role, you will support our growing business and customer base and build the next level of Data Protection for database customers while providing availability.
Responsibilities
- Play a critical role in designing and building cost effective infrastructure for data protection.
- Innovate, design and build functionality to achieve industry leading Service Level Agreement (SLA) in data protection.
- Work alongside Cloud SQL TLs to drive long term technical direction.
- Partner with product managers and engineering managers to define product direction.
- Collaborate with other GCP teams to drive alignment and requirements.
