Program Manager, Environmental, Health, and Safety (German)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • German Occupational Safety Specialist in accordance with ASiG (Sifa).
  • 2 years of experience in EHS management systems or experience managing EHS compliance with environmental programs (e.g., emissions, wastewater, etc.).
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Ability to communicate in German fluently in order to communicate with local authorities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • German Occupational Safety professional qualification, Credentials from Board of Certified Safety Professionals, NEBOSH, or equivalent agency.
  • Experience communicating with AHJ’s (e.g., Federal, State, and Local Authorities) for notifications and permit conformance.
  • Experience in data centers and electrical safety.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program lifecycle, identifying and driving impactful business and operational improvements aligned with Google's goal.
  • Define, scope, and independently lead ambiguous cross-functional and cross-organizational challenges, adjusting programs effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) regulations, maintain permits and monitor program Key Performance Indicators (KPI) performance. Execute and manage site EHS compliance calendar tasks/requirements.
  • Monitor and communication program progress, risks, and mitigations. Work closely with partner teams to manage changes and align stakeholders.
  • Understand the EHS domain and regulatory landscape, staying abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends.
