Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in social media, executive communications, or external communications within technology, engineering, or research organizations.
  • Experience working directly with product, engineering, or research leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners (e.g., GCPA teams, Office of the CEO, Product Area leads) to align on messaging.
  • Familiarity with the AI/ML landscape and the ability to bridge the research to product gap in communications.
  • Ability to grow in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, particularly during high-stakes product launch cycles (e.g., Gemini launches).
  • Excellent portfolio of written work that demonstrates the ability to distill complex technical concepts into accessible narratives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Global Communications and Public Affairs team communicates with priority audiences, from creators to developers to media, and other influential voices about Google's mission, its AI-powered products and approaches. You'll work cross-functionally to devise proactive communications campaigns to advance Google's business. We're looking for a creative communicator who can distill complex topics for priority audiences simply and engagingly. To succeed, you'll need to combine creativity with organizational skills and manage numerous projects to tight deadlines simultaneously, and be familiar with social media platforms and measurement tools. Things happen quickly at Google, and you’ll need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally, and someone who isn't afraid to take risks or try new things.

As a Google AI Social Media Manager within the GCPA team, your mission is to demonstrate Google’s leadership in the AI space and underscore our commitment to innovating boldly and responsibly. We are looking for a social media expert to provide strategic counsel to our bench of AI leaders, supporting both major launches and evergreen programming.

Working cross-functionally within GCPA and alongside Marketing and other cross-functional partners, you will ensure cohesive external storytelling and swift engagement. You will be responsible for providing social media strategy for platforms, while exploring new channels such as Bluesky and Threads, ultimately supporting our GenAI, Chief AI Architect and DevAI organizations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$205,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a clear, differentiated social media strategy for our high-profile artificial intelligence (AI) leaders, ensuring their unique technical perspectives translate into engaging social content.
  • Lead the end-to-end social strategy for major AI milestones, translating complex research breakthroughs and product launches into high-impact threads, posts, and visual assets.
  • Curate a steady beat of resonant content that highlights leadership's outlook, office culture, and ongoing research to keep executives relevant between major launch cycles.
  • Design and drive, in partnership with fellow communications leads, long-term AI tech leadership social-first campaigns that position our executives as primary thought leaders in ethics, safety, security, innovation, and the future of compute.
  • Act as a consultant to leadership, advising on where to play and how to navigate the nuances of the AI community’s discourse.
