Electromagnetic Compatibility Design Engineer, Google Pixel

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with working in an EMC engineering environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience with EMC testing standards and methodologies and EMC test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, antennas, and amplifiers).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills.

About the job

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of products, from design through to production. You will be leading EMC testing, troubleshooting, and providing expert guidance to project teams to achieve compliance with regulatory standards.Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Be involved in early concept stages of product development; Identify design risks, develop mitigation strategies and guide teams with EMC design principles, including schematics, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout design and simulations.
  • Identify and resolve EMC issues through design modifications and mitigation techniques.
  • Provide guidance and support to design teams on EMC best practices.
  • Stay current with EMC standards and regulations (e.g., FCC, CISPR, IEC).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, mechanical engineers, and guide junior engineers and test engineers.
