Public Affairs Manager, Spanish Speaking Latam (English, Spanish)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience working within a regulated industry, a government agency, or a public affairs consulting firm.
  • Experience with working on public affairs, political communications or tech policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, private sector, or relevant industry associations.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently to engage with local stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with international teams and a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, and in executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.
  • Experience advocating on behalf of Google’s core tech policy issues.
  • Knowledge of internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement, and to operate in a changing environment.
  • Excellent personal, political, investigative and communication skills and high attention to detail.

About the job

The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.

As a Public Affairs manager you'll lead efforts across Spanish Speaking Latam (e.g., narratives development and writing, go to market strategies development and execution, stakeholders engagement, event planning and execution, and community outreach). You will coordinate with the Emerging Markets Government Affairs and Public Policy team, the business and product organizations, and key cross-functional partners to execute our policy strategy. Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and track a comprehensive public affairs strategy to manage Google’s reputation and policy goals.
  • Build and maintain a network of policymakers, trade associations, industry partners, and non-profits to influence policy dialogue.
  • Develop core messaging strategies and draft communications regarding Google's products, societal contributions, and responsible stewardship.
  • Lead Google’s engagement strategy and execution with Latin American regional organizations.
  • Manage Google’s presence and policy-focused initiatives at major regional and international conferences and convenings.
