Communications Manager, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in PR, media, or communications with technology communications, including enterprise hardware or software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience pitching to local technology and business press.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Demonstrated creative skills when developing appealing communications for press and social media.
  • Ability to operate calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion, while acting as an effective team player who can lead efforts across disciplines. Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy.
  • Proven ability to manage PR agencies and teams across multiple geographies.

About the job

As a member of the Google Cloud Communications team, you will collaborate with other cross-functional teams to communicate with journalists and thought leaders, develop specific communications materials and devise thought leadership campaigns. You'll understand the power of Google’s Cloud products and tell the story of how we help our customers innovate. You'll engage in face-to-face meetings with internal executives and external opinion formers, and develop print and web-based materials supporting these campaigns.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with global, regional and country-based communications, sales, marketing and policy teams to develop communications materials, with a focus on building a wide range of placements in digital and traditional media outlets across the markets.
  • Prepare company spokespeople for press opportunities and events, staff media interviews.
  • Manage proactively and/or reactively all press operations for Google Cloud, including press events and briefings, as well as educational efforts to reach business and technology press and other influencers.
  • Lead, manage and review the PR agencies in each country, adjusting resources to align with the business.
  • Build a strong pipeline of local announcements, stories and activities, including customer and partner announcements, in each country under her/his responsibility, in alignment with the business and geographical priorities.
