Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of software based technical product management experience.
  • 5 years of experience managing and leading teams of product managers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience driving strategy and providing detailed technical guidance to the team.
  • Experience with Trust and Safety, Integrity, Risk, Fraud, Security, or Commerce products.
  • People leadership experience in hiring and developing product managers on the team and coaching a high-performance team.
  • Cross-functional stakeholder management skills with experience communicating with C-level executives.
  • Thought leadership around user privacy, safety, trust, regulations and ethics.

The Commerce Safety team develops and maintains policies, review processes, and enforcement to ensure the trustworthiness of our merchants, content, and user experiences.

As a Product Director, you will be responsible for the multi-year vision, strategy, and execution of the products that safeguard our merchant ecosystem and protects our users. You will lead a talented team of product managers to build systems that detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse, while simultaneously architecting a fair and seamless compliance experience for high-quality, legitimate merchants. This role is highly cross-functional, seated at the intersection of product, engineering, data science, policy, legal, and operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for a critical program with significant opportunity to review and engage with the Commerce Executive team. The scale of impact is across the entire Google Merchant ecosystem -which spans from Google Search, YouTube, Google Maps, Gemini App and Google Shopping Ads.

The Merchant Trust team develops and governs the sophisticated policies, review processes, and technical enforcement systems that ensure the trustworthiness of our merchants, their content, and the resulting user experiences.

Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the multi-year vision and strategic roadmap for the entire merchant trust and safety product portfolio.
  • Drive step changes in safe user experiences for commerce products. Build on commerce and safety domain expertise to drive innovation in product, infra and policies. 
  • Identify emerging threat vectors and user pain points ahead of new product and geographical expansions. 
  • Serve as a key leader and partner to senior stakeholders in Legal, Policy, Operations, and Go-to-Market to ensure cohesive and effective Trust and Safety solutions serve our merchants and users without any additional friction and keeping them safe. 
  • Partner with Engineering and Ops teams to build and deploy sophisticated machine learning models and enforcement platforms for risk detection, identity verification, and abuse prevention at scale.
