About the job
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing, guiding, and developing a program portfolio of software development, threat reduction, and regulatory compliance work. You will partner with functional leaders in engineering and product management to ensure that these activities are aligned with a coherent strategy and the agenda to deliver it. You will hold direct planning and execution responsibility for specific programs.
At Google we work hard to earn our users’ trust every day. Trust & Safety is Google’s team of abuse fighting and user trust experts working daily to make the internet a safer place. We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.
Responsibilities
- Lead high-stakes programs with a clear perspective on methodology, focusing on end-to-end accountability and operational resilience.
- Prioritize program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders’ needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables with minimal assistance, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
- Use your technical depth to earn the respect of engineering teams and exert real influence over scope, schedule, and risk management.
- Navigate complex incentives and demand stakeholders to build consensus and hit difficult shared goals in dynamic environments. Communicate with authority and candor, translating technical trade-offs into clear narratives for leadership and different audiences.
- Identify, communicate, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals. Build, maintain and enhance business, operational, and management dashboards.
