Program Manager, Data Governance

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or quantitative analysis related fields.
  • Experience in programming and SQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience in program management in large organizations with cross-functional specialized teams.
  • Experience with privacy, data security, or data governance (e.g., data classification, data quality/hygiene, etc.).
  • Experience in Finance/Financial data.
  • Knowledge of SQL, schema design, and processes like Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL).
  • Ability to drive and deliver results for partners.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to understand and explain complex technical solutions or needs to less-technical partners and drive agreement and collaboration.

About the job

At Google, data drives all of our decision-making. As part of the Finance Business Intelligence team, you will use data to inform business and product decisions across the company. Using your technical skills, business acumen and creativity, you will build tools to automate reporting and generate insight that will allow clients to quickly and accurately see how our key business products and processes are performing. Previous experience managing finance systems projects, with emphasis on providing business intelligence and data driven insight through reporting, will have equipped you well for this role. You’ll be involved in projects from inception to delivery, ensuring that your reporting delivers high-quality and relevant data to intelligently grow our business. You will also have extensive knowledge of key financial systems, such as Oracle and Hyperion, and experience working with a range of other business intelligence tools and platforms.

In this role, you will provide analysis on all manner of decisions across Google products from developing forward-thinking analysis to generate management reports to our automated financial processes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Finance-focused data governance policies and standards, ensuring alignment with business objectives, risk management, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Lead data quality initiatives to understand data challenges and drive remediation efforts. Partner with CorpEng to evaluate, select, implement, and manage data governance technologies ensuring they support the governance framework and finance-specific use cases.
  • Review Finance access controls and roles to improve consistency, policy compliance, risk mitigation, and usability. Be the primary lead of the Finance privacy working group, driving privacy reviews, process, and consultations for the whole Finance space.
  • Create, publish, and advocate guidance and training on data management best practices, including privacy, ETL hygiene, data quality checks, establishing as the go-to expert. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance and CorpEng to foster data accountability and report on program effectiveness.
