Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in communications within technology or policy.
  • Experience working directly with and counseling executives.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a publicly traded, global company.
  • Experience managing communications for quarterly earnings cycles, investments, and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activities.
  • Experience working with and managing executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate financial information and business strategies into clear, concise, and compelling messages for audiences.
  • Excellent crisis management skills and experience-based media judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a portfolio showcasing a variety of financial communication materials.

About the job

In this role, you will be Google’s primary Global Communications and Public Affairs team (GCPA) counsel and strategist for external communications relating to: core financial matters, investor relations support, engagement with the investment community, core business media relations regarding financial/company performance, preparation and execution of quarterly earnings and related disclosures (including Alphabet’s AGM), Chief Financial Officers (CFO’s) external engagement, relevant issues, and coordination with peers on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and partnership/business development agreements. You will collaborate closely with internal partners as needed across geographies and functions (e.g., GCPA, Product, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Corp Development, Partnerships, Policy, POps, Operations, etc.).

More broadly, as a member of GCPA, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists, influencers, and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials; and engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers. You will combine creativity with organizational skills to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to journalists, bloggers, and commentators, or producing internal communications and events for our employees.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$245,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for Google’s financial performance and investor-related topics, ensuring alignment with the overall Alphabet narrative, both internally and externally. Serve as the lead external communications advisor to Google’s finance leadership team, including Alphabet’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
  • Play the integral GCPA point-person role across the financial earnings process, leading the development of remarks for the CEO, Q&A development, claims development and tracking, core messaging, plus social and traditional media strategies.
  • Lead, review, and approve regular requests from customers and partners for investor-facing communications and materials to ensure message consistency and positioning. Prepare for investor-focused speaking events and ensure all communications are aligned with guidelines and business priorities.
  • Support communications aspects related to Google’s M&A activities, as well as investment announcements.
  • Contribute to broader team projects and initiatives as needed.
